Who we are
First Shady Grove Baptist Church is a local congregation in Conyers, Georgia — ordinary people who have found that the grace of Jesus Christ is worth building a life around. We are Baptist in conviction and warm in practice: we believe the Bible is God's Word, that faith is a personal response and never an inherited formality, and that a church is at its best when it is small enough to know each other and open enough to keep making room. Our doors are on Old Covington Road, and they open to anyone.

What we believe
We believe in one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus lived, died, and rose again, and that salvation comes by His grace through faith, not by anything we could earn or manage on our own. We hold Scripture as our final authority for what we teach and how we live. We practice believer's baptism, sharing publicly what God has already done privately in a heart. And we believe the local church is God's plan for ordinary discipleship: people carrying each other's burdens, correcting each other gently, and celebrating together loudly.
How we try to live it out
Convictions are worth little until they show up in the way a church treats people.
Honest, not polished
We'd rather be a church where you can admit a hard week than one where everyone pretends the week was fine.
Every generation together
Grandparents, newborns, teenagers, and everyone between worship in the same room. It's noisier that way, and better.
Open to newcomers
A first-time guest should never have to figure out this place alone. Ask anyone anything — we're happy to help.
Faithful over flashy
We're not chasing trends. We're trying to be the same steady church for Conyers next decade that we were last decade.
